Welcome to the internet presentation of the literary, scientific and professional work of Milentije Đorđević

 

Milentije Đorđević was born on 2nd. October 1950. He completed the Secondary Teacher Training School in Kruševac and graduated from the Faculty of Philology of the Belgrade University (Department for Yugoslav and General Literature). He received both his masters and his doctoral degree in literary sciences from the same faculty. First he worked as a secondary school teacher and as a professor at the Higher Education Institution for Preschool Teachers in Krusevac. In the year 1994 he was granted the position of a research assistant at the Institute for Literature and Arts in Belgrade, and a year later he became a docent of the Teacher Training Faculty in Jagodina, teaching Methodology of Serbian Language and Literature Teaching and Rhetoric. Two years later, as a visiting professor, he gave lectures at the Teacher Training Faculty in Uzice and at the Faculty of Philology and Arts in Kragujevac. Presently, he is a full professor at the Faculty of Philosophy in Nis, at the Department for Serbian and Comparative Literature as well as at the Department for Serbian Language and Literature. He is a member of the Writers’ Association of Serbia and a member of the Centre of Church Studies in Nis. In addition to teaching, he is also active in the areas of literary history and literary critique, as well as in translating. As a writer, he has tried his hand at almost all literary genres. He received the Prosveta Award for the best novel of the year (2001). He lives in Krusevac.
